Description
ABB DSDP160 is a High-speed Pulse Counter / Digital I/O Board
Model: DSDP160 | Part No: 57160001-KG
Product Title & Description
The ABB DSDP160 is a High-speed Pulse Counter / Digital I/O Board, belonging to ABB Advant OCS / MasterPiece DCS system. It is rack-mounted I/O card used to capture high-frequency pulse signals from encoders, MPU speed pickups, flow pulse transmitters. It converts pulse quantity into engineering values (speed, flow, position) and transmits data to Advant controller. Widely applied in thermal power, pulp & paper, metallurgy legacy ABB Advant control cabinets. It is critical spare for old DCS retrofit and maintenance.

Core Product Overview
DSDP160 is a dedicated pulse counting board for Advant OCS. It receives incremental pulse signals, supports unidirectional / bidirectional quadrature counting. It has multiple high-speed counter channels, can process pulse signals from turbine speed MPU, rotary encoder, pulse flowmeter. It carries out on-board pulse accumulation, filtering and scaling, then communicates processed values to MasterPiece controller via rack backplane bus. It has built-in signal diagnostics for wire break, signal loss and overrange fault, and front panel LED status indicators.
Lifecycle note: DSDP160 is discontinued. Only available as new old stock or refurbished spare parts for existing legacy Advant OCS systems.

Installation & Configuration Guide
7.1 Pre-installation Preparation
Verify board, inspect backplane connector and front LED. Prepare shielded pulse signal cables, Advant rack, MPU/encoder sensors. Power off rack before installation, wear ESD protection.
7.2 Installation Steps
Insert into empty Advant rack slot and lock. Wire field pulse/encoder signals with shielded twisted pair cables, single-point shield grounding in control cabinet. Check rack backplane power and protective earthing. Keep cabinet ventilation.
7.3 System Configuration & Commissioning
Power up rack, check module LED status. Configure counter channels, pulse scaling, filter and alarm thresholds in Advant engineering tool. Simulate pulse input to verify counting accuracy and fault alarm. Test speed/flow value transmission to controller. Save system configuration database.
7.4 Maintenance & Precautions
During plant outage, inspect wiring terminals, cable shielding and board dust accumulation. Keep cabinet clean. If counting jump or missing pulses occurs, check encoder/MPU sensor, cable shielding and grounding before replacing .
