Description

TRICONEX 3009 UMP Unified Main Processor Module for Tricon Classic TMR Safety‑Instrumented System

Product Details

The 3009, also known as MP3009 Unified Main Processor, is the core processing unit of legacy Tricon Classic safety‑instrumented platform under TRICONEX (Schneider Electric). Built on proven Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) fault‑tolerant architecture with three independent processing lanes executing logic in lock‑step mode, it performs real‑time safety logic computation, cross‑channel voting, I/O data processing and comprehensive system diagnostics. It is equipped with dedicated memory resources for firmware storage, application logic, runtime data and SOE sequence‑of‑events event logging. It communicates with I/O modules via TriBus backplane bus and supports multiple external communication interfaces for upper‑level system connection. The module supports hot‑swap maintenance without safety‑logic interruption. Multiple front‑panel LED indicators display PASS, FAULT, ACTIVE and diagnostic status. Certified for SIL‑3 per IEC 61508, this EOL‑discontinued unit is widely used as spare‑part and retrofit replacement for existing petrochemical, oil‑gas and power‑plant SIS racks.

Applications

‑ Oil & gas on‑shore / offshore ESD emergency shutdown safety system ‑ Petrochemical and refinery safety interlock & burner management system (BMS) ‑ Power plant boiler, turbine safety‑related control and protection ‑ Chemical plant high‑integrity safety‑instrumented system ‑ Fire & gas (F&G) safety monitoring and interlock system ‑ Retrofit & spare‑part replacement for legacy Tricon Classic SIS installations ‑ Critical process safety protection for high‑risk industrial sites

Key Features

  1. Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) three‑channel lock‑step processing architecture, eliminates single‑point‑of‑failure risk for safety‑critical loops.
  2. SIL‑3 safety certification compliant with IEC 61508 for high‑risk process safety applications.
  3. Hot‑swap supported, allows module replacement while the safety system remains online without process shutdown.
  4. Built‑in comprehensive self‑diagnostic function, continuously detects hardware faults, memory errors and communication abnormalities.
  5. On‑board memory supports complex safety logic execution and high‑precision SOE event timestamp recording.
  6. High‑speed TriBus backplane bus for reliable data interaction with all Tricon I/O and communication modules.
  7. Multiple front‑panel LED status indicators for quick on‑site status judgement and fault localization.
  8. Industrial‑grade rugged hardware, stable long‑term continuous operation under harsh electromagnetic‑interference factory environments.

Main Functions

  1. Execute user‑defined safety interlock logic and ESD control algorithms in real‑time with triple‑channel voting mechanism.
  2. Collect, process and vote data from all connected Tricon I/O modules.
  3. Complete high‑precision Sequence‑of‑Events (SOE) event logging for post‑incident analysis.
  4. Manage TriBus backplane communication and coordinate data exchange between CPU and peripheral modules.
  5. Run continuous hardware self‑diagnosis, report fault status and trigger corresponding system alarm logic.
  6. Support online configuration download, upload and system diagnostic access for commissioning and troubleshooting.
  7. Cooperate with external communication modules to realize data interaction with DCS, HMI and SCADA host systems.
  8. Maintain safety‑system runtime parameters and ensure bumpless operation during hot‑swap and fault‑handling procedures.
