Product Description

The MVI56E-MCMR is an enhanced in-chassis Modbus communication gateway module manufactured by ProSoft Technology for Rockwell Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix rack. It features Reduced Data Block (RDB) design optimized for bandwidth-limited ControlNet remote I/O racks. It has two independent serial ports, each configurable as Modbus Master or Slave, supporting Modbus RTU and ASCII protocols. It exchanges data with ControlLogix CPU via the backplane and communicates with field Modbus instruments, transmitters, weighing meters, drives and legacy controllers over RS232/422/485. The internal 5000-word register database realizes bidirectional register mapping. Equipped with a 4-character scrolling alpha-numeric LED display and a dedicated Ethernet configuration port, it supports remote diagnostics and firmware upgrade. Optical isolation on serial side protects the PLC backplane from surge and ground loop noise. It is hot-swappable and widely used for remote ControlNet I/O racks integrating Modbus field devices.
