Description
Foxboro FCP280 RH924YA Field Control Processor for EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS, Optional Fault‑Tolerant Field‑Mounted Controller
Product Introduction
The Foxboro FCP280 is a high‑performance distributed field control processor for Schneider EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS platform. It executes closed‑loop regulation, logic control, timing and sequence control, meanwhile handling field data acquisition, alarm detection and event notification. FCP280 connects to DCS control network via redundant 100 Mbps Ethernet (copper or fiber), and communicates with FBM I/O modules through up to four HDLC fieldbus ports. It supports optional dual redundant hot‑swap configuration for maximum uptime. Built with rugged die‑cast aluminum housing, it meets G3 harsh environmental grade and can be installed directly inside unventilated field cabinets without air conditioning. FCP280 can run independently under self‑hosted mode, executing control logic saved in flash memory even when the engineering workstation is offline. It is fully backward compatible with legacy Foxboro 100/200 series FBM modules and supports migration from old Honeywell, Siemens and Westinghouse DCS systems. It is widely stocked as critical spare part for petrochemical, power and pulp & paper plant DCS preventive maintenance and emergency replacement.
Specific Application Information
- Process closed‑loop control: Run PID, cascade, feedforward and non‑linear control algorithms for flow, pressure, level and temperature loops.
- Sequence & interlock logic: Implement batch sequence control and process interlock logic for continuous production lines.
- Field I/O management: Communicate with up to 128 FBM fieldbus I/O modules to collect DI/DO, AI/AO and HART field device signals.
- DCS network communication: Transmit real‑time process data, alarm messages and controller status to operator workstations via redundant Ethernet.
- Independent self‑host operation: Maintain normal control execution when host engineering station loses connection.
- Legacy system migration: Serve as new controller hardware while retaining existing FBM I/O cards during old DCS upgrade projects.
- Time synchronization: Support external UTC time sync to align timestamps of all process alarms and events.
- Online firmware upgrade: Realize online image upgrade (OLUG) without stopping running control loops for redundant FCP280 pairs.
