Description
ABB DSDP140B is a Multi-function Pulse Counter Board
Model: DSDP140B | Part No: 57160001-ACX
Product Title & Description
The ABB DSDP140B is a Multi-function Pulse Counter Board, belonging to ABB Advant OCS / MasterPiece legacy DCS system. It integrates high-speed pulse counting, digital DI/DO and analog AO on one single rack card. It receives pulses from encoders, flow pulse transmitters and speed sensors, performs on-board counting, position calculation and analog conversion. Widely used in pulp & paper, metallurgy, power plant and chemical industry for speed, length, position and flow measurement & closed-loop control. It is a critical spare for old Advant DCS cabinet maintenance and retrofit.
Core Product Overview
DSDP140B is the earliest generation of DSDP series pulse counter board (predecessor of DSDP150 / DSDP160).
- 1 high-speed pulse input channel, max frequency up to 80kHz
- 2 × Digital Inputs, 4 × Digital Outputs
- 1 configurable Analog Output (0~10V / 0~20mA) It can convert counted pulse value directly to analog output for drive/valve control. Front panel LED indicators for module and channel status, built-in wire-break and signal fault diagnostics. It communicates with ABB MasterPiece AC100 / AC160 controllers via Advant rack backplane bus.
Lifecycle note: DSDP140B is discontinued. Only available as NOS or refurbished spare for existing Advant OCS systems.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between , DSDP150 and DSDP160? A1: is the original multi-function version (1 pulse + DI/DO + AO, up to 80kHz). DSDP150 is 10kHz 12V encoder version. DSDP160 supports higher frequency multi-channel pulse/quadrature signals.
Q2: What signals can receive? A2: Pulse signals, incremental encoder signals, pulse flow meters and speed pickup signals.
Q3: Is still in production? A3: Discontinued. Only NOS and refurbished spare available for legacy Advant system maintenance.
Q4: What is the unique feature of compared to DSDP150/160? A4: It has built-in analog output channel, can convert counting value to 0-10V/4-20mA analog signal directly for closed-loop control without extra analog card.
Q5: Warranty for original ABB 57160001-ACX? A5: Original / refurbished unit carries standard 12-month factory warranty under proper installation and operating conditions.
Installation & Configuration Guide
7.1 Pre-installation Preparation
Verify board, inspect backplane connector and front LED indicators. Prepare shielded pulse/encoder cables, Advant rack, encoders or pulse sensors. Power off rack before installation, wear ESD protection.
7.2 Installation Steps
Insert into empty Advant rack slot and lock the module. Wire field pulse/encoder signals with shielded twisted pair cables, single-point shield grounding inside control cabinet. Wire field DI/DO and analog output cables to field devices. Check rack backplane power and protective earthing, ensure cabinet ventilation.
7.3 System Configuration & Commissioning
Power up rack, check module LED status. Configure pulse channel, scaling, filter, DI/DO logic and analog output range via Advant engineering tool. Simulate pulse signal to verify counting accuracy and analog output response. Test wire-break fault alarm. Confirm measurement value transmit to Advant controller. Save system configuration database.
7.4 Maintenance & Precautions
During plant outage, inspect wiring terminals, cable shielding and PCB dust accumulation. Keep cabinet clean. If unstable counting or analog output drift occurs, check encoder/pulse sensor, cable shielding and grounding before replacing .
